Queen Mary University of London is one of the UK's leading research-focused universities. Our Strategy 2030 commits us to being the most inclusive university of our kind, anywhere.

With almost 27,000 students, 4,600 staff, and an annual turnover of £473.9m, Queen Mary is a major, global institution offering world-leading research and education across a wide range of subjects in humanities and social sciences, medicine and dentistry, and science and engineering.

Based in the diverse and creative East End of London, and with a history dating back to 1785, our reach extends far beyond the UK capital. We have European hubs in Paris and Malta, and almost 5,000 students studying on our joint programmes with partners in China. We welcome over 160 nationalities to our campuses, and rank within the global top 20 for 'international outlook' (THE).

With research at our School of Medicine and Dentistry ranked third in the world by citation impact (QS WUR 2019), and fifth in the UK by the proportion of world-leading and internationally excellent research outputs (REF 2014), the quality and rigour of academic enquiry at Queen Mary speaks for itself. There are similarly striking examples of our world-leading research right across our three Faculties and specialist multi-disciplinary institutes.

Queen Mary is deeply committed to connecting with the world outside of the University for the benefit of society. Through our award-winning qLegal service, we provide free legal advice and resources to start-ups and entrepreneurs to help them develop their business.

The Queen Mary Global Policy Institute (QM GPI) is the university's hub for international policy-facing initiatives across disciplines, supporting a strong transnational agenda in applied research and enriching the student experience through dynamic opportunities for global interaction and learning. The QM GPI provides bespoke training, consultancy, and advisory services to international policy-makers and hosts international Policy Fellows reflecting a diverse spectrum of specialist interests.

The Mile End Institute brings together politicians, policymakers, academics, and the public to debate the major challenges facing the country and its capital in a fast-moving world.

The Centre for Public Engagement enables students and staff to engage different communities in their research, teaching and learning, reflecting Queen Mary's role as an anchor institution working with civic society across east London.
