Edge Hill University believes in the life changing opportunities knowledge can create. We have been creating access to education for those who may not have had the opportunity to before, since 1885, when we first opened our doors as England's first non-denominational teacher training college for women. Now with over 14,500 undergraduate and postgraduate students, we provide an innovative, high quality and inclusive learning experience underpinned by a commitment to the advancement, dissemination and application of knowledge.

Edge Hill was named Modern University of the Year by the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022 and awarded University of the Year in the Educate North Awards 2020/21.

Our mission is to provide an intellectually stimulating, creative and inclusive environment for our community through teaching and learning of the highest standard, supported by pure and applied research of international significance, giving a firm foundation for our graduates and other stakeholders in a rapidly changing world. Our researchers are addressing some of society's most pressing problems today and providing expertise to develop solutions and enact change. From promoting inclusive societies and encouraging wellbeing for all, nurturing creativity and innovation, to tackling some of the world's biggest challenges to secure a sustainable future, our research builds new partnerships, enhances understanding and enriches lives.

We have many researchers leading on ground-breaking work. The Evaluation and Policy Analysis Unit, for example, is home to a range of experts who specialise in the theory of change and logic model development as well as evaluations of complex interventions in the health, educational or public service sector. The unit has worked with a number of organisations including NHS England, Sports England, UK Athletics, local councils and charitable trusts.
